Learn how to choose the best stone for each environment
Stone is a differentiated material. One of the oldest building materials in the world, it has been used in different situations, be it construction of buildings, foundations, decorative or ornamental. And she still continues with this position of material so used because of its beauty and durability.
For these reasons United Granite PA decided to be an expert in this field. Built a Show room with all types of stone available on the market, whether exotic, quartzite, natural, granite, marble or industrialized.
But what is the best stone for each situation? With so many options it is really difficult to choose which stone best fits your environment. But rest assured that United Granite PA explains!

The stones have many differences. Both stones and solid surfaces have advantages and disadvantages, so it is necessary to pay close attention to the need for the environment and what will be the use of this material.
But we are gradually explaining these materials. First it is important to explain that there are artificial and industrialized stones.
Natural stones are divided into granites, marbles, exotic materials.
Among the industrialized ones are Quartzite, Silestone, Antolini, Caesarstone and Cambria
All of these materials have differences between them that qualify or disqualify them in certain situations, but let’s go to the natural ones first. Let’s start with some natural materials.
Natural materials
Naturals are some materials found in nature that do not need great influences from man. They are purer materials that have different possibilities of finishes and applicability.
Unlike industrialized materials, these materials have rarely uniform colors (with the exception of some marbles) in addition to different types of resistances.

Granite Contertops -2
Composed of Mica, Feldspar and Quartz, Granite offers excellent benefits for the most different situations, as it is resistant to impacts, has low absorption of liquids and has an interesting tolerance to the sun, so it can be used in different indoor or outdoor areas. It is a material that has a very wide range of colors and finishes. It is an excellent material in the cost-benefit relation.
The main disadvantage of this material is that it is unlikely to have a uniform color, as it always has pigments on its surface. Another disadvantage is that these materials vary widely from batch to batch, which makes it difficult if part of the environment needs to be restored.
It is suitable for all environments, whether internal or external. Granite Countertops
Marble
Marble is a noble material that attracts attention and gives a noble air to practically every environment in which it is installed.
It is composed mostly of limestone exposed to high temperature and pressure.
This noble material is widely used in indoor areas, bathrooms, wall coverings and bathroom sinks.
The main advantage of this material is that the marble has a more homogeneous surface. It also has very apparent veins and can be found in different colors and textures.
The main disadvantage of marble is that it cannot be used outdoors. As this material is somewhat more fragile, it can change colors when exposed to pollution and the sun. It should also not be used in areas with heavy traffic or in the kitchen for example (it has a high absorption rate).

Exotic materials
Exotic materials are 100% natural materials that have undergone the same actions of the time, but that have singularities. Some of these differences can be:
- Veins – Larger, more frequent, with different colors and etc;
- Shades – Some exotics have different shades, which may be degrades or the presence of different colors on the same surface;
- Resistances – Materials have greater resistance to certain actions of the time or influence of man.
These materials can be divided into quartzites, granites, marbles, feldspars and others.
This type of stone usually draws a lot of attention because it is completely unique and because there are no other similar pieces, thus making this material something totally exclusive.
Industrialized materials
Industrialized materials, as the name implies, are materials that are found in nature and that from different combinations end up having different uses.
A very interesting point of these materials is that they have uniform colors and a great ease of exchange, since their colors do not depend on lots, but collections.
Industrialized materials have very different resistances and can be used in very different situations.
Silestone
Silestone is a material composed of natural quartz (93%) and polyester resin (7%). Its composition also includes dyes that allow a very wide variety of colors.
This industrialized material – which we commonly call a solid surface – has a very low liquid absorption and a high index of resistance to impacts and wear.
It is recommended for kitchens, bathrooms and all internal areas because it has a very high resistance to wear. It also has antibacterial properties, which makes it even more complete and hygienic.
Another very attractive point of this material is that Cosentino offers a 25 year warranty on this material.
The only weakness of Silestone is the heat. Like other stones it cannot receive sun rays (as its color can end up being damaged), so it is not recommended for outdoor areas. It is also essential to avoid contact of this material with hot pots.
