This is a two-component condensation cure, low viscosity silicone rubber. Suitable for mould making, producing replicas of polyester, epoxy resins, urethane foam and wax etc. It can precisely reproduce the shape of the original model. Condensation Cure Silicone is also known as tin-cured.
A two-component material consisting of Base silicone, which when mixed with the Curing Agent, cures at room temperature by an addition reaction. A range of materials can be cast into the cured silicone mould polyurethane and other reactive resins are the materials typically used.
Addition Cure Silicone Rubber
Our addition cure silicone rubber is a high strength mould making rubber developed for prototype design and production tooling, especially for rapid prototyping. Addition Cure Silicone is also known as platinum-cured.
Silastic 3481 is suited for the detailed reproduction of figures, art objects and similar items
Moulds can be used for casting Polyester and Polyurethane resins. It is also entirely suitable for use with casting plasters and reconstituted stone.
- Outstanding release properties
- High flowability and long working time
- Medium hardness
- High tear resistance
- High elasticity, for easy removal of complex replica parts
- Can be made thixotropic (non-flowable) for vertical surface replication
- Choice of curing agents for special application
Regular speed cure is a 12 hour to overnight cure depending on working temperature and the Fast version is approx. 10 minutes gel time with a 2 hour cure cycle again depending on temperature.
